MUSIC

Led by Alfonso Pomeda, artistic director of Mostra BCN, a festival in Barcelona that showcases artists from the fringes of mainstream electronic culture, the lineup will include artists from France, South Korea, Spain, Ireland, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Japan. Passionate about electronic musical adventures, these artists go beyond the beaten track and recount their introspective journeys with humility and sincerity.

Hailing from Seoul, the Korean DJ regularly played at the underground techno bunker vurt. before moving to Amsterdam and expanding her horizons in Europe. Influenced by Eastern philosophy and the nature, Cobahn meticulously interweaves sounds that guide dancers into a meditative and ritualistic state of mind.

As a producer, Jaime Romero aka Estrato Aurora has been in the studio for more than two decades working with analogue machines and all sorts of junk… He is also a member of the Pajaro Dune project together with David Ortolá.

Everest was born of two former figures on the Paris punk scene, a visual artist and a sound artist. It was only natural that he turned to free parties in the mountains, before gradually making his way back down to his father’s volcanic homeland in Auvergne. It was here that he found a deep sense of tranquillity that comes through in his mere presence and in his DJ sets, which are like long, weightless journeys between ambient and deep techno.

Garçon’s DJ sets are all about the slow burn. He teases music gradually and deliberately, layering hypnotic grooves atop one another and subtly modulating the mood of the night, with this delayed gratification leading to a far greater payoff. Although he pulls from across the electronic music spectrum, Garçon’s interests are primarily in techno, with a particular fondness for rhythmically adventurous sounds from the outer edges of the genre.

Embodying a profound and instinctual allure, Javier Salazar remains an enigmatic force in the contemporary music landscape. Founders of rdg tribe, their sound is characterized by elegant and soaring rhythms creating immersion through a continued dedication to diversifying their selection, blending genres and atmospheres. The two are also part of La Vallée Electrique festival, in which they take care of the artists and shape each year a cohesive whole. Records from the duo are available on Oslated and their own imprint, drawing listeners into a smooth current of sounds.

The music of “JONG” is characterized by a melodic and harmonic search linked to soft and luminous emotions, an emotional exploration connected to universal love. Each of his tracks tells a story in color and embodies an approach to music that leans towards meditation, whether it is calm and contemplative or inscribed in a more dynamic movement. Jonathan always works on the sonic space (colors and shapes to set a scene) and on the language (harmonies and melodies to communicate in the simplest and clearest way possible). The play of contrasts is essential in his music because it leads to “auditory revelations.” This music is thus an invitation to travel and to evoke comforting and universal emotions within us.

Lynne is a Japanese artist who explores the outer realms of techno, experimental, and drum ‘n’bass. First emerging in 2013 as part of Tokyo’s underground scene, Lynne established herself quickly, winning the Samurai Music Mix competition and playing regularly at respected Tokyo institutions. Over time her sound evolved from its DnB roots to include more textural, obscure and experimental layers as she became fascinated with building emotive atmospheres and twisting them to her rhythm. Now an Astral Industries and Unknown Species resident, Lynne resides between Tokyo and London. She is an artist who is most comfortable in the grey space between genres, where her rhythm is a gravitational force pulling dancers in all the right directions.

As a sound artist, Margaux Gazur explores possibilities of sounds, using unconventional instruments, everyday objects and field recording to create a rich and textured soundscape. Margaux started to work with field recording to capture her daily life in Hanoi as a sonic memory. Using everyday objects and sounds from surrounding environments allow her to create music that is both deeply personal and universally resonant. Her love for organic sound pushes her to constantly engage her sonic surroundings, seeking out new sources of inspiration and experimenting with different recording techniques.

Metshka has built his musical universe with depth and subtlety, using sounds modulated by his many machines. Powerful rhythms, subterranean voices and cavernous layers make up his productions, the latest of which appears with those of Roman Delore and Myles Dillon on the Mountain Oddity EP released on the Pauza association label.

Somewhere between acousmatic, ambient and techno, Myles Dillon’s productions are the result of a long writing process combining timbre, space and tonality. A viola da gamba player, he was classically trained at the Conservatoire before joining the École supérieure des arts de Mons, where he is currently studying acousmatic composition. Myles Dillon is also a huge fan of vinyl records, and it is as a DJ that he will be playing this year, a field in which he excels.

Naturally active person, in 2014, Nathalia founded Experiment Intrinsic, a hidden art dimension organically blended with the visual and musical imagination. A pivotal change, in which she pursued a path of deeper self inquiry and progression of sound, shifted her from the dance-floor oriented music and into ambient soundscapes. Her influences drew increasingly from experimental electronic, as well as traditional and spiritual genres. The following years were dedicated as developing the project into a dynamic and constantly evolving audio-visual platform.

OCCA has been organising ARCHIV for over 10 years at the sacred club,  Precious Hall in Sapporo, located in the northernmost region of Japan, Hokkaido. With his own party ARCHIV at the core, he has been expanding his scope of activities from all over Japan to the rest of the world.

As an entity of singularity, he aims to transform time/space/spirit into unknown realms by arranging multifaceted elements such as the spiritualism of Psychedelic Music, the storytelling nature of House Music, the sci-fi dystopian feel of Detroit Techno and the trance of Minimal Music in a three-dimensional way through his deft mixing.

A dynamic force on the scene in Paris and beyond, DJ and producer Roman Delore moves between ambient, experimental music and textured sounds on the fringes of techno and breakbeat. A regular at festivals and electronic music hotspots (MUTEK ES, Positive Education Festival, Concrete, Rex Club, etc.), Roman Delore also shares her passion on the Rinse France online radio station, where she hosts the monthly programme Tri Sélectif, focusing on new music releases in harmony with her musical universe.

Vardae is a project with the ambition of breaking away from the genre barrier, to explore new sounds territory around the love of psychedelic music. His productions and performances result in a percussive and hypnotic sound, a combination of tribal rhythms, repetitive leads and atmospheric textures which navigates from dub to tribe, passing through techno and drum’n’bass. Vardae defends a universe where immersion and experience prevail over codes with the idea of offering a journey to each of its appearances.
